A Little About Us: (Woody) I have taught swimming more on then off for over 30 years. I teach children (5 and older) through adults from beginners to advanced swimmers. I am very patient and gain the trust of my students quickly. I teach not only the fundamentals needed for a strong stroke but the importance of water safety. I challenge my students while providing a safety net which allows them to realize their strengths.
To reach my personal goal to help as many people learn to enjoy the water and become confident to swim as quickly as they can. I have recently added some very talented teachers to our schedule to help. Co-teachers: Cameron Wilson Rosie Fitzsimmons (during Summer)
All of my co-teachers are excellent teachers. They are wonderful with both children and adults, as well as patient and encouraging. Even though, all are experienced swim teacher’s in their own right, I continue to work with them often so they and our students can benefit from all our years of experience.
How Our Schedule Works: Even though we all have similar teaching styles once you receive a weekly on-going time it will be with primary be one teacher, so you will have some consistency. But it is important to us that all our clients make progress. Because consistent time in the water is important to learn to swim. Should one of our teachers have to miss a day you may have one of us cover your class. But we try to keep this to a minimum.
Cost: Cost for Single Class: (Floaters) Single 1-on-1 for 30 minutes Fee $50. 1-on-1 for 1-hour Fee $100 Adult Group 30mins Fee $35
Cost for On-going weekly clients: Session of 6 classes 1-on-1 for 30 minutes Fee $260 1-on-1 for 1-hour Fee $520 Adult Group 30mins Fee $180 (Full Session payment due when session is scheduled)
Payments: We accept electronic payments through Venmo or Zelle. Payment is due when a class or session of classes is scheduled. Venmo use @woodywold or email@example.com. Zelle use firstname.lastname@example.org. We do not accept credit cards currently. We prefer you pay electronically but if you prefer we will accept cash or checks to Woody Wold or Woody's Private Swim.
What to Expect: Woody’s Private Swim Instruction is a small school, that offers specialized one-on-one instruction tailored to each student. We are limited in the number of clients that we can help but do our best to help as many as we can. Our schedule is full and unfortunately, our wait list is quite long. Please keep in mind, the more limited your availability is the less like we will have a time that will work for you.

Since our schedule is full, new openings only become available when current client reaches their goals and gives up their time slot. Generally, we know 1-2 weeks before a new opening becomes available. Because every swimmer learns at their own rate, it can be difficult to estimate when a new opening will be available. If we offer you a new opening and you are unable to make that time work, it will be offered to the next person on the wait list. But you will not lose your spot in line. We will circle back around and make a second offer when the next opening is available.
Unfortunately we cannot allow clients to stay on the wait list indefinitely. If you have been offered multiple openings in your requested window of time and are still unable to make an offered time slot work, we may not be a good fit.
How Our Schedule Works: WPSI teaches between 80 – 90, 1-on-1 classes a week. Our teachers spend most of our time in the water teaching. So, if you have a question texting (Woody) is the quickest way to get a response. Because we get quite a few requests via email it may take a few days to receive a response.
Two types of clients: Most of our clients are Weekly On-going clients that have classes on set days and times weekly. We also have a limited number of Floater clients that purchase single class(es) at a time depending on availability. Floater times vary weekly, so a flexible schedule is required. For a complete explanation see Floaters section below.
On-going Weekly Clients: Most of our clients have weekly reoccurring time slot(s), such as Tuesdays at 5:00pm each week. Classes are purchased in a session of 6 (30 mins) or 6 (1-hour) consecutive weekly classes. Once you have a time slot you may keep it for as long as needed to reach your goal. If you take multiple sessions, they must be taken consecutively like your weekly classes to keep a reoccurring time slot. We do not have excused absences. We do give a sizable discount to our session clients to help with unintended absences. Since our classes are 1-on-1, if you miss a class, we must hold that time slot open for it to be available for your return. We have a limited number of single class clients (floater) due to the flexibly required but we have many clients waiting for an ongoing time slot. We do understand that you may need to miss a class from time to time. We just ask for as much advance notice as possible.
If you know you’d like to continue or that you have reached your goal, please let me know as soon as possible. You are welcome to schedule multiple session in advance, payment for future sessions are due when they are schedule.
Important Policies: Policy for Missed Class: If you accept a class time or times you are responsible for those times.
If you can’t make a time that you have accepted please let us know as soon as possible. Unfortunately, as an on-going weekly client if you miss a class to insure your time slot will be available for your return, I must hold your time open for you. But even if you are not there, cost will still remain to hold that slot open.
For this reason, our general rule is that we do not hold time slots open for new clients. But we understand that most of our clients have waited for some time to get on our schedule and from time to time things happen beyond your control. So, once you are a client and have a set time I can hold your time slot for the occasional absence but payment is still required for that missed class.
Ongoing weekly clients get a sizable session discount. Normally classes are $50 for a 30 minute class. Ongoing clients purchase there classes in session of 6-30min classes but instead of paying $300, they receive a discount at $260.
We cannot offer both a discount and hold missed classes open without payment. If you know you need to miss a class here and there, we ask you to let us know as soon as possible.
The session discount is made possible by single class clients, such as Floaters, which help us reduce the number of holes that we can get in the schedule. Our number of floaters is limited, due to the flexible schedule that is required. We are also limited by the notice of unexpected absence. So, there are missed classes that do not fill, weekly. The discount allows us to distribute those times that we can fill back to our session client in a fair manner.
Please keep in mind I spend most of my time in the water teaching. So, I have precious little time to spend on scheduling and rescheduling. If I find that you continue to miss multiple classes please review “Missing Multiple Classes” policy.
Missing Multiple Classes: I value my clients and appreciate your busy schedules, but please keep in mind we cannot help you learn to swim if you are not in the water. If you miss multiple classes from your schedule for vacation or any reason; Unfortunately, I may not be able to hold that specific time slot for you. But I will try to work with you if I can. Should we need to remove you from the schedule for now, when you are ready to return I will do my best to work you back into a schedule that works for you.
But please forgive any delay, as you may not be the only returning client. So, this kind of return can take weeks to months, so this is not recommended for short absences.
Condensing schedule (limited): Our schedule is usually full of back to back classes. But occasionally we may get last minute cancellation(s) or a holiday schedule, in which case you may be asked to move forward or back 30 mins or so, to condense the schedule for that day. Cancellations, are first attempted to be filled with floaters but if we are unable to do so, you might be asked to adjust. Your teacher is in the water for long periods of time, so your flexibility is greatly appreciated. We understand that this may not always be possible, and in such cases, we will work around you the best we can.
Floater Client: This can be a quicker way to get a class, but you must have a flexible schedule. Floater clients "fill-in" or "act as a substitute" and take single openings when we have a hole in the schedule, created by one of our on-going clients that can't make one of their classes. These (Missed classes or) cancellations can vary greatly, and the notice for that opening may range from the same day to a week in advance. The number of active floaters is limited, so each floater can get at least one class a week sometimes more. Also, because floater openings vary weekly, floaters must also be willing to see whichever teachers has an opening.
Missed Class Policy for Floater: Because floaters schedule most of their classes within 1 to 7 days of any given class. Floaters are responsible for all class that they schedule. If you are not sure that a time will work for you, please do not take it.
To be a Floaters: Floaters must have a flexible schedule and be willing to make any time or day work, when offered. There are often multiple times available for each week, so sometimes may work better than others. Dates that are available are often offered to more than one person for consideration, so times are offered on a first come first serve basis. As a floater, you are expected to make at least one class a week work, in order to keep making progress. Open times are sent out by Friday for the upcoming week or as soon as they happen for last minute openings.
If you are only flexible on one or 2 days a week such as the weekend, unfortunately that is not flexible enough to be a floater.
Times for floaters vary greatly, and I cannot guarantee that I will have a specific time or day available every week, or with a specific teacher. This is because floater times are created by cancellations.
If a client accepts a floater position then finds that they are no longer flexible, or need to miss several weeks. That floater will be removed from the active floaters list. But they are always welcome to return when their schedule clears up. Or they can request to be put on the regular wait list for a set time.

All scheduling is done with MyTime app. All scheduled classes should receive a confirmation immediately after adding them to the schedule. You should also receive a reminder the day before your upcoming class. Reminders are sent via text or email. If you don’t receive a confirmation or a reminder and you think you should have received one, please contact me right away.
Enter thru the grey recessed roll-up Door to the left of the building. Pull into the driveway in front of the roll-up door and push the call button on the speaker box. Let the front desk know you are attending swim lessons. Pull through the building and park in the outside upper lot in the back of The Bellevue. From the parking lot enter through the doors by the exit rollup door.
