Welcome Letter - New Outdoor Program for Woody’s Private Swim Instruction: A Little About Us: We teach all strokes and levels from beginners to advanced swimmers. We teach adults and children age 5 y.o. and up. It is our goal to help you learn to enjoy the water and become a confidant swimmer as quickly as you feel comfortable. Classes are taught by Woody and her Co-teachers: Rosie Fitsimmons, Cameron Wilson, & Gustavo Artman. Even though we all teach the same techniques, we understand clients can get use to a teacher's individual styles. Once you have a weekly on-going time, it will be taught primarily by one teacher for consistency. On occasion a teachers may need to miss a day, and should that happen the class will be covered by another teacher to insure you do not miss your water time. We do try to keep substitution to a minimum. We swim rain or shine. Learning to swim takes time and repetitions in water. We are committed to helping all our clients reach their individual swimming goals.
Due to COVID-19 We have moved our classes to an outdoor pool, where we plan to teach for the immediate future for the safety of our clients and ourselves during this time. We are running a limited schedule of one-hour 1-on-1 classes.
How Our Schedule Works: We are small swim program, that offers specialized 1-on-1 classes that are tailored to each client's specific needs. We encourage clients to pick a day and time which allows them to take consecutive weekly classes. Because of repetitions swimming takes to learn. Once a client has a weekly timeslot, they may keep the time for as long as the classes continue weekly without gap. If you need to miss a week but want to return the following week to your same timeslot, we can hold your spot open for your return, but payment will still be due for the missed class. We completely understand, if you'd prefer not paying for a class you will miss. So, you have the option of relinquishing the timeslot and wait for a new opening after your return. Please keep in mind the new time will likely be on a different day and time. New openings become available when a current clients reaches their goal or need to take a break.
If a Schedule Change is needed: Please contact Woody by text at (510)393-0352 preferably, as soon as possible if you need to miss a class or change your schedule.
Drop in - Floater Clients: We do have some drop in clients (which we call floaters), but due to our limited schedule at this time we can not guarantee, we will always have an opening when you want it. Floaters must be flexible enough to make most openings on different days and times work, to insure we can see you on a regular basis to help you reach your goal. We don't recommend client go longer then a week between classes to continue making progress.
Policy for Missed Class: Payment is due when a class is scheduled. Last minute cancelation are difficult to fill and pool time and teachers have already been secured. So, Unfortunately if you miss a scheduled class full payment is still due. Unlike a typical swim school that puts lots of students in a single class, our cost is higher, because we only do private classes. Which limits our flexibility. But we feel or 1-on-1 individually tailored program is worth it. It allows us to give each of our clients exactly what they need. As mentioned above, we encourage you to pick a weekly time that works for you. Clients that have picked a weekly timeslot, can keep that timeslot as long as the classes run back to back weekly with no gap. If you schedule multiple classes and find, that you need to stop as long as we receive notice before your next class you will not be charged, minimally 72 hour.
COVID - 19 Protocols For Teacher - All teachers will wear a plastic face shield and observe distancing as much as safely possible. KN95 mask will also be worn if closer contact is necessary. For Clients: We want to limit the use of any indoor areas as much as possible. The pool does have a restroom available if needed. But we encourage you to only use it if necessary.
